Are you planning to move to a new city and looking for the most liveable cities in the world? You’ll find numerous lists online, each claiming to have the definitive answer. But comparing all these lists can be exhausting and time-consuming. That’s why we’ve consolidated the rankings from five reputable sources into one comprehensive super ranking of the most liveable cities in the world.
To create this list, we gave each city a scaled score out of 100 based on its ranking position on each list. We then added up the scores for each city and sorted them from highest to lowest total score. The result is a list that combines the most recent rankings of the world’s most liveable cities from various sources, including reputable publications like The Economist, Mercer, and Monocle.
This super ranking provides a convenient and reliable way to assess the liveability of a city, taking into account a range of factors, such as quality of life, infrastructure, environment, and culture. So, whether you’re a student, a professional, or a retiree, this list can help you find your perfect place to call home. Check out the list and let me know what you think!

The overall list was topped by Zurich, followed by Wellington and Copenhagen – not a surprise given their high rankings on multiple lists. These cities received a higher total score due to their excellent performance. The chart below displays the scores of each city.
We also calculated the average ranking of each city to give an indication on their positions in their respective lists. Again, Zurich tops the list followed by Tokyo and Auckland. Zurich not only had the best average rank but appeared on 5 lists. Tokyo and Auckland had good ranks but they only appeared on 3 out of 5 lists which explains why they had better scores than, say, Wellington and Copenhagen.
